The Fiscal Decree No. 155 of October 19, 2024 introduces important updates for the ZES (Special Economic Zones) with the aim of stimulating investments in Southern Italy. One of the main updates is the refinancing of the ZES Unica Tax Credit for 2024, with a new spending authorization of €1.6 billion, in addition to the €1.8 billion already allocated. Obligation for Supplementary Communication
Businesses that have already submitted the necessary documentation to obtain the tax credit will need to send a supplementary communication between November 18 and December 2, 2024. This communication must confirm the completion of the investments eligible for tax benefits by November 15, 2024. Sending this documentation is a crucial step to ensure access to the fiscal incentives.
Possibility of Adding Investments
A significant new feature is the ability to include additional investments in the supplementary communication, beyond those already reported. Companies will be able to include projects carried out between January 1, 2024, and November 15, 2024, provided they give details on the amount of the additional tax credit accrued and the related supporting documentation. Another key step will be the Revenue Agency’s determination of the actual usable tax credit. This assessment must be completed by December 12, 2024, ensuring that businesses can benefit from the available resources in a timely and effective manner.
